Install Mortic for Cursor and OpenCode on macOS

Mortic adds voice to the Cursor or OpenCode conversation already working in your project. Start with the installer, connect your Mac, then run /mortic.

What you need

  • An Apple Silicon Mac. The current Developer Preview installer supports macOS on Apple Silicon.
  • Cursor or OpenCode. Mortic supplies a verified private runtime automatically; Cursor-only users need no separate OpenCode installation.
  • A browser, an internet connection, and a microphone you can allow Mortic to use.
  • A Google or GitHub account to connect this Mac. You do not need to supply model or voice provider API keys.

This guide covers the public Cursor and OpenCode preview. The installer checks your platform before installing.

1. Run the Mortic installer

Open Terminal on your Mac and run:

curl -fsSL https://mortiphi.com/install.sh | sh

The installer downloads the current release, verifies its checksum, installs Mortic, and connects the available integrations. It does not require sudo. Let it finish; the first installation can take a few minutes.

The installer reports anonymous setup stages and release versions, never content or identifiers. Privacy and opt-out instructions.

If you do not have a separate OpenCode installation, start it with ~/.local/bin/mortic opencode from your project folder.

2. Connect this Mac in your browser

Continue with Google or GitHub when the installer opens your browser. Approve the Mac only when the displayed code matches the code in your Terminal and you started the request.

Use the same sign-in provider when returning to your account. If the preview is at capacity, your verified place is saved and Mortic tells you when to reconnect.

3. Start your first OpenCode voice session

After the installer confirms that Mortic is ready, open your project in OpenCode and run /mortic. Tap M to enable the microphone, then ask a question about the project.

Try: “Explain where this project handles authentication.” Mortic can read and search the codebase and answer aloud while keeping the written answer visible. Read the OpenCode voice guide for more examples.

Fix common setup problems

The runtime could not download

Check your connection to github.com and retry the installer. A failed setup restores the previous Mortic installation.

The mortic command is not found

The default command location is ~/.local/bin/mortic. Use that full path if your shell does not find mortic. If you chose a custom installation path, use the path reported by the installer.

The microphone or session is not ready

Check microphone permission for the Terminal app you used, confirm the microphone is unmuted, then run the setup checks:

~/.local/bin/mortic doctor

Follow the recovery instructions that the check prints. You do not need to rerun it after every successful installation.

This Mac needs browser approval again

Check your connection and begin a fresh approval if access has expired or been revoked:

~/.local/bin/mortic auth status
~/.local/bin/mortic login

Model usage is exhausted

Your account page shows usage remaining. Reinstalling or signing in again does not reset your allocation. See recovery and support if you need help with access.

Repair, disconnect, or uninstall Mortic

Repair the same verified version with ~/.local/bin/mortic reinstall. This is a repair command, not an upgrade to a different release.

Run ~/.local/bin/mortic logout to revoke access from this Mac. To remove Mortic as well, run ~/.local/bin/mortic uninstall. Uninstalling removes Mortic's files and plugin entry while preserving your projects and unrelated OpenCode settings.

If you no longer have the Mac, revoke it from your account on another device. The privacy and support page explains account information and voice traffic.
